To support the New Jersey Food Security Initiative (NJFSI), and ensure the initiative is informed by New Jersey communities, the New Jersey Office of the Food Security Advocate and Hunger Free New Jersey serve as Core Partners and are receiving support from NJFSI to advance key priorities at the systems level.
The New Jersey Office of the Food Security Advocate (OFSA) is responsible for coordinating the administration of the State’s food security programs, advocating for residents experiencing food insecurity, and advancing policy to secure greater access to food relief programs in New Jersey.
The NJFSI grant aims to improve food security, nutrition, and health equity for New Jersey residents through the implementation of a strong, sustainable, and permanent Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program, known as Summer EBT.
Hunger Free New Jersey is the leading advocacy organization working to end hunger in New Jersey. The organization is a program of Center for Food Action (CFA), which provides emergency services to northern New Jersey’s poorest and most vulnerable residents.
In alignment with the overarching goals of NJFSI, Hunger Free New Jersey will utilize this grant to connect more New Jersey families with federal nutrition programs.
